Undead also differ from the other factions

The Undead also have a special gold structure -- a Haunted Gold Mine. Like Night Elf Wisps, Undead Acolytes remain on the mine and collect mechanically. In 100 seconds, building one is slower than the Entangled Gold Mine, but Undead Acolytes do not have to WOW TBC Gold stick around in one spot to build, instead summoning a portal site that brings their structures into existence. Once the portal is summoned, they are free to start other tasks.

Undead also differ from the other factions because they need to utilize their most basic combat unit -- Ghouls -- to gather lumber. The trade-off is that Ghouls collect 20 timber per delivery instead of the Human and Orc's 10, and the Night Elves' 5. They are also a lot more defensible, should your opponent target your employees.

All games start with your starting city right next to a gold mine. Night Elf or Undead players will find their starting mine prepared to use, won't need to worry about Haunting or even Entangling immediately away, before,the very first Gold Mine collapses. That's right, Gold Mines don't last forever, so you'll be looking to expand quickly into the ancient mid-game. Locate a second gold mine early, and begin planning to clean the area and expand to a second foundation. You also need to keep an eye for your competitor's expansions. If you've got two gold mines, and they have just got one, you're going to be in a critical benefit.

To discover where your competitors are expanding too, though, you'll need to devote some time on recon. Sending a starting employee out to learn more about the map is a common tactic, but make sure you replace them quickly to avoid losing out on precious early game tools. As an example, all factions have access to flying or undetectable units that make for good scouts.
