Former Disney executive Jessica Martinez joins Blizzard as first head of culture to address workplace issues. The appointment is from Blizzard's efforts to create a "more inclusive, diverse, and inclusive workplace culture where people at every level are able to learn, develop, and bring their most imaginative and innovative" Blizzard stated in a statement.
Martinez spent 14 years at The Walt Disney Company, in which she served as the chief of staff and the key strategic advisor. She was responsible for strategy, communications, as well as customer experience for employees."When you create an "people-first" environment where teams feel at ease and respected, and work together toward a shared purpose and success, everyone benefits -- the employees, the players and the company," she explained.
Activision Blizzard cites Microsoft deal and lower Call of Duty sales as the reason for lower revenues. Blizzard has issued a financial report for the initial quarter of 2022. The company saw its revenues and net earnings decrease year-over-year due to less Call of Duty sales and the Microsoft deal being named among the reasons for it.
The net earnings of the company were $1.77 billion and fell 22.2 percent year-over-year.Subscriptions, microtransactions royalties and other downloadable content represented 78% of this amount.The net income of ActivisionBlizzard was $395 million and is lower than 36.1 percent over the past year.The company reported lower performance from Call of Cheap D2R Ladder Items Duty, product cycle timing at Blizzard and an "increase in professional and legal fees which is mainly due to the costs related to our planned transaction together with Microsoft," among reasons that led to the decline.
