The company has filed two trademarks with the UK, one that reads "OSRS Gold" and the other with the title "RS Gold" and OSRS Gold noting that the company has registered that the phrase is used as words. This could prevent third-party sites from being able to market their products as RS Gold.
A simple Google search of the terms returns hundreds of websites, some of which have one of the words in their URLs, and that provide the currency of RuneScape with real money. The news came out on October 13 that Jagex had put an end the practice of "real-world trading". In a post to its blog "The RuneScape Team" explained that "gold that is bought via RWT real-world trading is an issue in any online game featuring a marketable currency."
Jagex has announced that it will begin sending "messages to players we've identified that are engaged on the RWT" within "the coming hours". "For anyone involved, we want to make clear that this is your one all-encompassing warning" Jagex added.
Also announced was the news regarding the games PvP modes, Duel Arena, would have sweeping changes that would include the tighter enforcement of code of conduct for the game, in order to encourage positive play. Jagex declares that the mode "has become a focal point for this toxic behaviour".
Before that, what the publisher calls "short-term measures" will be implemented "until our teams of developers are able to OSRS Gold For Sale bring a major update to fully replaces Duel Arena in the coming year."
