Somehow stretches are useful for fitness and split .Way back when I would have considered myself to be a contortionist. In my experience Schwalbe tires have been well above average in performance and durability. Split in the middle of the tread sounds as though it might be from overinflation. Weekly flats could be a problem with the rim strip, which covers spokes or spoke holes. Next time you get a flat, when fixing try to keep the inner tube inside the tire when you remove it.
